Taylor Swift & Travis Kelce’s First Spark Was Just Revealed By This Unlikely Source

While it seems we know everything there is to know about Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce‘s relationship, there’s one story that recently took us by surprise. After all, while we know the two started dating way before they took things public, it seems like some Saturday Night Live stars were picking up on a crush Swift had for Kelce long before. Who knew?

In an appearance at Mike Birbiglia’s Working It Out podcast this week, SNL stars Ben Marshall, John Higgins and Martin Herlihy, aka the Please Don’t Destroy trio, talked about how Swift showed some interest in the NFL star long before their relationship hit the headlines.

“We worked with both Taylor and Travis Kelce, before they got together,” Marshall said, per Page Six. While the trio went viral for their skit with Swift in 2021, titled “Three Sad Virgins,” the trio worked with Kelce in the “Self-Defense” skit back in March 2023.

“So we — and we can cut this out if you guys don’t want to say this — but she kinda told us that she watched his SNL episode, and saw him in our video and was like, ‘Oh, this guy seems funny,'” Marshall remembered. Was it love at first skit?

Marshall then went on to joke that they might’ve been the secret to their relationship. “So, like, a little bit [we] brought them together,” the comedian said.

And while the story is sweet, and provides a whole new perspective as to why they connected in the first place, it seems like the SNL stars were initially hesitant to talk about Swift’s crush. At first, they thought about sharing it on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon but ultimately decided against it.

“We were like, ‘I think that if then they break up, we will somehow be, like, pitted as causing this disaster,'” Marshall said. “It’s just a precarious situation. People have strong feelings.”

Luckily now that the two are showing the world they’re the real deal, we get to know what brought them together in the first place. Safe to say we never had Saturday Night Live in our bingo cards for this one!
