King Charles III doesn’t seem to be sweating the released details about Prince Andrew‘s involvement with the late Jeffrey Epstein as much as Prince William reportedly is. While the monarch seems torn over his promise to the late Queen Elizabeth II to take care of his younger brother, the Prince of Wales apparently sees this as a very black-and-white situation.
Charles and William are at odds over the king’s handling of this PR debacle, according to The Daily Beast. The latest revelations in the Epstein case from cohort Ghislaine Maxwell’s trial shockingly noted allegations of the sex offender creating tapes of Andrew having sex with trafficked victims. Prince William is worried that there might be “a s**t load” of more horrific stories to come involving his uncle.
King Charles is sticking by his brother which has “dismayed” William who feels his dad’s “leniency” isn’t the best way to handle the ongoing royal scandal. The media outlet’s sources not only question the king’s “judgment” with letting Andrew walk with the family at Christmas, but it’s left William “utterly bemused by his father’s strategy.” But that’s about where the royal battle ends because of the power structure at the palace — William can’t defy his father’s wishes. “That’s not how the family dynamic works. Charles is the king, so William has to go along with it,” the insider noted. “But he doesn’t have to like it.”
While both men agreed to have Andrew step down as a senior royal in 2022, William would prefer to keep his uncle out of the spotlight for good. Since then, Charles has given Andrew privileges that he didn’t even offer to Prince Harry since their fallout (and alleged sexual abuse and trafficking is a much more heinous situation than revealing royal secrets in a memoir). King Charles’ next steps are to reportedly remove his security detail and kick Andrew out of Royal Lodge, but that has yet to happen.
While Prince Andrew continues to deny any wrongdoing in the Epstein case, some of the alleged victims are refusing to be silenced any longer. Sarah Ransome appeared on Good Morning Britain to double down on her once-retracted claims that Andrew, Bill Clinton, Sir Richard Branson were “secretly filmed having sex on Epstein’s orders.” She originally withdrew her story years ago because she was threatened by Epstein and Maxwell. With one of them dead and the other in jail, Ransome is telling everyone it’s all true — and Prince Andrew was involved.
