There’s nothing easy about serving the perfect side eye. It’s a subtle art that requires a person to maintain their composure while still revealing their disgust. The head and body don’t move. Not a word is said. But the slight narrowing of the eyes, and the way they sweep to the side — even if for a split second — does a whole lot of talking.
There are tons of celebrities who are known for their iconic side eye. Princess Diana was a master of the trade. Sophia Loren’s side eye at Jayne Mansfield is legendary. And Queen Bey is a side eye queen too.
But the next generation is quickly proving themselves to be just as capable of using their eyes to give an effective “eff you,” “eff off,” or “the eff?” Princess Diana would be so proud of two of her grandchildren — who have taken her infamous look and made it their own. Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade’s sassy daughter is affectionately known as “Shady Baby,” and her face oftentimes lives up to her name. (In the most hilarious and adorable way!)
Ahead are our favorite photos of children of celebrities serving the perfect side eye. Whether it be to take notes or have a laugh, we’ll definitely be referencing this list often.
-
Bronze Mahomes
Trailing closely behind his sister, Bronze Mahomes was the star of what was probably the second-best photo from the 2024 Super Bowl (see our favorite one HERE). The kiddo is giving his dad Patrick Mahomes some serious side eye, clearly unimpressed with the quarterback’s third Super Bowl win.
-
Bronze Mahomes (Again)
In case you thought that was a fluke, nope! Bronze was serving side eye throughout the post-game celebrations.
-
Sterling Mahomes
Bronze may have learned a thing or two from his big sister Sterling Mahomes who Patrick shares with high school sweetheart Brittany Mahomes. She was not feeling whoever was off camera when her family went to Disneyland in 2023.
-
Sterling Mahomes…& Her Mama
And it’s possible Sterling learned from mom Brittany, since they’re both hilariously over Patrick in this photo from 2021.
-
Kaavia James
It might be hard to see over her deliciously chubby cheeks, but Kaavia James started publically serving side eye way back in 2019 when she joined dad Dwyane Wade at an NBA press conference.
-
Kaavia James
Again in 2022, Kaavia let her “Shady Baby” colors shine through on a red carpet with her parents.
-
Princess Charlotte
Princess Charlotte’s side eye has gotten so good that people can’t help but compare her to her late grandma, Princess Diana. Can a look this fierce be genetic?
-
Princess Charlotte
Holy side eye! This iconic facial expression from the young royal at King Charles III’s coronation screams, “Don’t mess with me … and don’t mess with my little brother.”
-
Prince Louis
In most of the photos from his grandfather’s coronation, Prince Louis looked adorably unimpressed. But in this one, the youngest child of Prince William and Kate Middleton looked like he had a major bone to pick with someone. And we have to know, did Princess Charlotte — his fiercest protector — find out?!
-
Saint West
It turns out flipping the bird isn’t Saint West’s only pose. In this picture from 2023, the son of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West spoke with his eyes instead of his middle finger.
-
Olympia Ohanian
Olympia Ohanian — daughter of tennis legend Serena Williams and Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian — is a whole mood in this photo from the 2022 US Open. If I was whoever she was looking at, I’d be slowly backing away.

Blue Ivy Carter
Blue Ivy Carter gave this “Bless your heart”-type side eye to the crowd after her dad Jay-Z won the Global Impact Award at the 2024 Grammys. In his speech, he called out the award show for the fact that his wife Beyoncé has won the most Grammys of all time but has somehow never won Album of the Year. The math isn’t mathing!
-
Blue Ivy Carter
Oh yeah, that’s definitely Sasha Fierce’s daughter.

Ryder Robinson
This photo may be from 2019, but it’s still a favorite. We’re dying to know what made Ryder Robinson look utterly disgusted and his mom Kate Hudson look utterly joyful.
It’s one of the great wonders (and great mysteries) about kids giving the side eye. Their parents can think a situation is amazing, and the kid (especially if they’re a teen!) can somehow be so. freaking. over. it.
