Costco isn’t just a place for amazing deals and one-of-a-kind products — they also serve some pretty fabulous food, too. The wholesale store is famous for their $1.50 hot dogs in the food court, which is stocked with other goodies as well. But despite their great reputation, their latest menu item is drawing backlash from unhappy shoppers.
Instagram users @costcodealsonline and @costcodeals shared a joint post with the new food court option, made by Kirkland Signature. The offering? A brown turkey and Swiss cheese sandwich on a ciabatta roll.
“📸: u/Gbcue 🚨New Food Court item coming soon!Turkey & Swiss Sandwich for $6.99. What do you think??” they captioned the post.
Unhappy Shoppers
Although the sandwich looks perfectly fine, topped with lettuce and sundried tomatoes and served with two different sauces, people were upset about it.
“$7…wtf? Might as well go to a real sandwich shop,” one person wrote. “They have fried chicken and poutine in Canada and we get this?” someone else complained.
“Looking mighty mid to me,” another person commented.
Other suggested other items Costco could bring back instead. “Good lord, all we want is the combo pizza & polish dog back 😭,” one person said. Another wrote, “We just want combo pizza back 😭.”
“What happened to the provolone pesto sandwich! What is this @costco?! Bring back good food! Combo pizza, polish sausage. Nobody asked for this! 😭🙄” someone else said.
Never-Buy Items
Most of the time, Costco sells products that people are obsessed with. But sometimes, even Costco misses with their products. In fact, many shoppers recently turned to Reddit to reveal the products they never buy from Costco, and the list was full of eye-opening items.
Shoppers avoided things like chicken breasts because it’s cheaper elsewhere; Peruvian avocados because they “never ripen”; and desserts because they are so “massive” (which isn’t always a bad problem to have!).
Whether you love Costco’s new turkey and Swiss, or you add it to the never-buy list, one thing’s for sure: Costco sure knows how to keep people engaged when it comes to their food selection!
