When you’re an actoir, there’s no greater award to recieve in the community than an Oscar. The Academy Awards give honors to those who did the best of the best in film that year, honoring some legendary performances over the years. Everyone tunes into the best award show of the night, but we also need to talk about the anti-Oscar, the anti-thesis of honoring the best for their work: the Razzies.
The Golden Raspberry Awards, better known as the Razzies, are a parody award show that gives statuettes to those who’ve done the worst performances of the year, and have done so since 1981.
You may not know this, but quite a few Oscar winners have also received Razzies, including some of our favorite actresses. It just goes to show that you win some, you lose some, but you should never forget how amazing you really are.
In honor of the 2024 Oscars coming right around the corner, let’s see which actresses have won both an Oscar and a Razzie over the years, below:
-
Kim Basinger
Back in 1998, Kim Basinger, who won Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her role as Lynn Bracken in the critically-acclaimed film L.A. Confidential. And then 20 years later, she also obtained the worst supporting actress at the Razzies for her role in the 2018 for Fifty Shades Darker.
-
Sandra Bullock
So back in 2009, Sandra Bullock first won a Razzie for her starring performance in the film All About Steve, where she played an eccentric crossword puzzler going across the country to convince a man that they’re meant to be.
Not only did she win the Razzie, but she even went there to accept the award. “I will show up next year if you promise to watch the movie, I mean really watch it, and really consider if it was really and truly the worst performance. And if you’re willing to watch it, then I will come back next year, and I will give back the Razzie,” she said as she went up on stage.
The next day, Bullock won the Oscar for her performance in The Blind Side.
-
Halle Berry
Another actress who arrived to the Razzies to accept her award was Halle Berry. Before winning her Razzie, Berry won her historic Oscar for her leading performance in Monster’s Ball. So while accepting her Razzie for her lead performance in Catwoman, she had her Oscar in hand and delivered an eight-minute-long speech, saying, “I have a lot of people to thank because you don’t win a Razzie without a lot of help from a lot of people. First of all, I want to thank Warner Brothers — thank you for putting me in a piece of s—, God-awful movie.”
-
