Chef Damaris Phillips Shows Us How to Make a Bourbon Ball Milkshake for Your Kentucky Derby Viewing Party
The Kentucky Derby is just around the corner, one of the most exciting events of spring! If you can’t make it to see the iconic horse races live, you can host your own viewing party at home — complete with all the pastel colors, sky-high fascinators, and horse-themed décor your heart desires. And while mint juleps are the cocktail of choice for Derby season, Chef Damaris Phillips has another drink in mind…and it has a serious kick! The Food Network star gave SheKnows a step-by-step guide to making a bourbon ball milkshake, and we can’t believe we’ve gone this long without enjoying this amazing combination.
This recipe is “very very easy,” according to Phillips. She uses butter pecan ice cream, bourbon, and other ingredients, which she pours into a blender to mix together. It is filled with rich texture and smooth flavor, and wow — your guests are going to love this!
“I’m a Kentucky native, and I just absolutely love this time of year in Kentucky,” she tells us. “It’s spring, everyone’s excited for the Derby. And the fashion — out of this world! The food? To die for! It’s just, the whole city and state come alive with excitement!”
Recapture some of that magic by hosting your own Derby party at home. But be warned: Phillips says this boozy milkshake “will get you in trouble.” Somehow, that makes us want to try it even more!
